Project SCORE, WD-40 Project research.
World’s first communications satellite, launched about an Atlas rocket on December 18, 1958. U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower used it to broadcast a Christmas message through an on-board tape recorder.
This was a hugely important development in America’s space technology, as it meant they were on par with Russia’s Sputnik satellites.
This is great footage to use as reference or possibly even rotoscope for this project. I’m not entirely sure whether we’re even going to be using rocket imagery much in this project though, so I’ll have to wait and see.
