Some more experimentation with highlighting some bike photographs I received from my friend Emma Hall (photography student, her University journal is here and her online portfolio is here) after requesting cycling photos from any of my friends on facebook (more of them responded, but I haven’t had time to do theirs too). The highlight was done in watercolour paint. Not sure it works as well as previous attempts, but it’s something different. Not sure whether it’d work in the video though unless it was a rotoscope, and I think we have enough rotoscopes (although I suppose it could be a theme which helps to tie it all together). It’s interesting note that the bikes become highlighted even when they’re in black and white whilst everything else has been coloured; so long as either it or everything else is coloured in mostly the same tone of colour, then it stands out.
